A scalable, real-world solution addressing unemployment, homelessness, and mental wellbeing through a single, integrated construction-based model.
UNIT 80 UNIT 80 is a purpose-driven initiative created by Brian Montgomery, building on a proven history of successful community programs and youth engagement initiatives, including The Hay Patrollers and THE PLAY Musical. At its core, UNIT 80 is focused on creating real opportunities for young people through employment, education, training and personal development pathways. The program is designed to support individuals who may be disengaged from school, employment or community participation by providing structured guidance, mentoring and practical pathways toward a more positive and sustainable future.
UNIT 80 recognises that many young people face barriers including unemployment, limited access to education, social disadvantage, mental health challenges and a lack of positive support networks. Through targeted programs and community partnerships, UNIT 80 works to break these cycles by connecting participants with accredited training opportunities, work readiness programs, apprenticeships, mentoring, leadership development and employment pathways. The initiative is built around empowerment, accountability and inclusion — helping young people develop confidence, life skills and a stronger sense of purpose. By creating safe, supportive and engaging environments, UNIT 80 encourages participants to reconnect with education, gain meaningful employment skills and become active contributors within their communities. Beyond individual outcomes, UNIT 80 aims to strengthen communities by reducing youth disengagement, antisocial behaviour and long-term unemployment through early intervention and preventative support strategies. The program promotes collaboration between community organisations, employers, training providers, schools and local stakeholders to create sustainable opportunities that lead to long-term social and economic benefits. UNIT 80 is more than a program — it is a platform for change, designed to inspire hope, restore direction and provide young people with the tools, support and opportunities needed to build productive, independent and successful futures.
UNIT 80 intervenes before lives spiral, replacing the cycle of unemployment and antisocial behavior with professional discipline.
Restoring dignity through meaningful, structured daily activity and confidence building.
Providing a high-road alternative to drugs, gang influence, and antisocial behavior.
Strengthening local communities through visible social regeneration and housing.
Transforming disengaged potential into long-term employability and careers.
Participants work alongside licensed tradespeople in a fully operational construction environment. Career pathways include:
UNIT 80 creates real jobs, not just temporary placements. We connect participants to industry-recognized qualifications and local employers through programme partners. Local businesses and contractors are actively involved to ensure skills align with market demand.

Our ambition is to become one of the largest construction-based training and employment programmes in the world. UNIT 80 delivers value by reducing government burden and transforming disengaged communities into skilled workforces.
Participants help build the very homes they may one day rent or purchase, creating social regeneration from the ground up.
Strict zero-tolerance framework for safety and respect ensures participants are trained as high-level professionals.
Join us in rebuilding lives, skills, and communities through the UNIT 80 initiative.
